School of the Arts Branding

Tactics: Logo Redesign, SWAG Merchandise, Program Booklets with Paid Advertising, Website Redesign, Event Posters, Fundraising Initiatives

Charleston School of the Arts is a nationally ranked magnet school — but its dance department, despite the talent inside it, kept getting overlooked in favor of other programs. The work wasn’t about making dance look good. It was about making sure people finally noticed what was already there.

A five-year partnership started with a logo redesign — a mark refined and aspirational enough to match the caliber of the performances it represented. From there, a complete visual system took shape: student-focused visuals that built internal pride, event posters that carried consistent energy across every performance, and program booklets that incorporated paid advertising to directly support fundraising. A redesigned website unified messaging and made information easier to find, so every touchpoint reinforced the same identity instead of feeling like separate efforts.

The results were measurable. The work earned six American Graphic Design Awards from GDUSA, raising the program’s profile within both the school and the wider community. Fundraising initiatives gained real momentum — enough to secure professional-grade ballet barres and expand scholarship opportunities for students.

Five years of sustained creative leadership didn’t just make the department look more polished. It changed how the program was perceived, strengthened its identity, and opened doors for young dancers who deserved to be seen.
